CARRY ME
This song came out of the blue, releasing years of aching that I had pushed inside. It is a prayer I have offered, and a prayer that’s been answered time and again.
If this song meets you in one of your valleys… then this song is for you. ❤️
Feels like a weight upon my chest
Gasping for air with no strength left
Praying the light will break through
This storm will pass and I’ll see you
When Heaven’s they feel silent – call my name
When I am bound inside this – break these chains
Oh Lord, carry me, through the darkness and the night
Stay with me, when all I can do is cry
When I’m aching to go home – please carry me
I love that the scriptures tell us that Jesus wept. He knew that He could heal Lazarus, but He was so moved by the heartache and loss of Mary and Martha that He cried with them.
He doesn’t take our pains and challenges lightly. He understands more than anyone our need for compassion and unlike anyone else, Christ has the power, the love, and the strength to carry us.
“There may be some among you who feel darkness encroaching upon you. You may feel burdened by worry, fear, or doubt. To you and to all of us, I repeat a wonderful and certain truth: God’s light is real. It is available to all! It gives life to all things. It has the power to soften the sting of the deepest wound. It can be a healing balm for the loneliness and sickness of our souls. In the furrows of despair, it can plant the seeds of a brighter hope. It can enlighten the deepest valleys of sorrow. It can illuminate the path before us and lead us through the darkest night into the promise of a new dawn.” Dieter F. Uchtdorf
I wondered if the album cover with the girls smiling was the right cover for this song. But I hope it is a reminder of Christ’s power to push out the darkness with His LIGHT!
