Gifts of Christmas
Lord with the gifts you give me year after year, this year I'm giving You my heart...
TODAY we are creating TOMORROW’S MEMORIES.
“Frozen in Time, memories of the love and laughter, the music and the lights the falling snow. This Christmastime, something’s got to give I feel it… got to let it go, let the water flow…”
Writing this song felt very nostalgic this year. Holidays bring so many memories and high emotions attached to them. I had the visual of water in my head while I was writing… water is always changing, just like our lives – like our families. There is so much fluidity to life, and if we want to be happy, we have to let go of hurt and unrealistic expectations, and make room for the GIFTS Christ has given us.
TIME is a GIFT.
This year as I was writing this song, my husband (who has always been a rock physically), had just gotten positive results for a serious medical condition and he was in the process of further testing, and our family was prayerfully awaiting results.
During the wait, it was the first time I really considered what life would be like without him. The little things that bother me began to feel very trivial and our time together has felt magnified. The sweet memories of the past have become even sweeter.
The PRESENT is a GIFT.
Receiving and giving away Christ’s gifts of love, kindness, forgiveness, and grace in our most important relationships, changes life in beautiful ways. Where there has been hurt, His love can wash that away. He can help our hearts heal and open up to new wonderful experiences.
“This year, I’ll receive your gifts and I’ll give your gifts away. My walls are down, the tide is rising high, and your love has washed the hurt away. There’s no more wishing there was more time, to share the gifts of Christmas..”
Not next year, not tomorrow – TODAY
None of us knows what tomorrow will bring, do we? The disease they found is slow growing, so we are monitoring things for now. 🙏🏻 We are all living in a state of tension between the joys and the struggles. We are each preparing for tomorrow, while working to stay present.
One of the greatest gifts of the gospel of Jesus Christ, is that we can have both uncertainty and peace. It’s not one or the other. We can trust Him. (Our grandchildren in the video show that childlike faith ❤️).
“Lord with the gifts You give me year after year, this year I’m giving You my heart.”
If this song and message touches you, I hope you will share the song the GIFTS OF CHRISTMAS with the people you love this season.
You Are Loved,
Kimberly
