This song is a reminder that we can draw nearer to Christ, one step each day of our lives. What a special time the month leading up to Easter is!

First, LENT: 40 days before Easter – a sacred time of repentance, prayer, fasting and reflection.

The time reminds us of Jesus’s fasting in the wilderness, preparing spiritually for His ministry and His walk among men.

Many Christians use this time to give up something as a form of discipline and devotion. What a beautiful way to begin the spiritual walk toward Easter.

Ash Wednesday marks the first day of Lent. I love the powerful symbolism  – a reminder that we are created from the dust and one day will return to the dust.

A symbol of humility, repentance and our desire to walk more closely with God.

Next, Holy Week beginning with Palm Sunday.

This is when Jesus’ made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem and the people celebrated Him as King. But Jesus knew the path ahead.

He took a bold step into what would be His final week – a courageous walk of love for God and for all of us.

THURSDAY: Jesus shares the Last Supper with His disciples.

He washes their feet in humility. He gives final teachings. He institutes the Sacrament. Then he walks to the Mount of Olives.

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prays and takes upon Himself the sins, afflictions, and sufferings of each one of us.

In that sacred experience, He felt our pains so deeply that  He knows perfectly how to walk beside us in every trial we face.

Soon after, He is betrayed and taken into the hands of those who condemn Him.

GOOD FRIDAY: Jesus is mocked, scourged, and condemned.

He is forced to carry His cross on the painful climb to Calvary. Nails pierce His hands and feet, darkness covers the land.

After hours of unimaginable suffering – JESUS willingly releases His Spirit and dies.

HOLY SATURDAY: Jesus’ body rests in a tomb.  A quiet day of waiting… reflection… faith.

EASTER SUNDAY:  The RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ.

HE LIVES! Victory over death. Hope. Renewal, Eternal life. And He beckons us to follow Him.

Just as Jesus walked His path for us… we can walk our path for Him.

“One step each day of our lives…

He has shown us the way,

I will trust in His grace…

Taking one step nearer to Christ”.

As we move toward Easter, what is one step you can take today to walk nearer to Christ?
