Are you waiting for a loved one to come home? If you are, you’re not alone. ❤️ 🙏🏻
God wants us each to “come home”. He knows where we are and there are angels working in behalf of each of us.
I wrote this song 6 years ago, late at night… waiting… praying.
I prefer to write songs that my children can sing. I like to be the one at the piano writing, not performing (at least on video 😅) . But there are certain songs I know I need to sing myself because of the deep emotional roots… like this one. Some messages need to be shared from the perspective of someone a little older 😉. So, even though it’s not comfortable for me… this one is for you, my friends, and all who have felt the ache and still do.
What does it mean to “COME HOME”? That is a meaningful question, and it looks different to each of us who have or are experiencing a disconnect with someone we love. Part of the answer came to me as I was writing this song. The song concept was not thought out ahead of time, it came in real time as I was playing, praying, aching.
Have you had times you are checking your location app for answers… relief?
It hit me that God is pleading for the same thing of us when we are worried and stressed for our loved ones. He already knows our locations – both physically and spiritually – and He want us to come HOME. He wants us to put our phones away, our stressful searching, and come to Him with faith that HE HAS THIS.
He knows the needs of those we love. He knows where they are on their paths that seem lost to us. He is working in behalf of them and the experiences they need on their own journeys. But He needs to know that WE are okay. He needs to know YOU are okay. He has them and we need to let Him have us.
This came as an emotional and spiritual revelation to me. It didn’t end the days, months and years of waiting, but the lyrics gave me a clear reminder of what I can do in these times of hurt and worry – TURN TO HIM. Let Him give us comfort. Let Him have our worry. Trust His loving plan to bring His children home… us HOME.
