As we prepare to share ESTHER for the first time, I have felt again and again that this story is about so much more than a musical. At a time when our world desperately needs peace, Esther’s story reminds me that God can use ordinary people who are willing to act with faith, courage, and love.
Through the creation of this music, I have seen God open doors I could never have opened on my own. I believe He hears our prayers, magnifies our small efforts, and can use each of us as an instrument of peace.
My prayer is that everyone who hears this music will know: you are seen, you are loved, and you may have been placed exactly where you are “for such a time as this.” ❤️🕊️
As we’ve been preparing for this show, there have been so many times that I’ve been quite overcome with the messages of these songs. I’ve needed the faith of GOD OPENS DOORS as Erika and I have faced some staggering disappointments, loss, and challenges. I’ve cried several times as I’ve realized the help I’ve needed came from a Savior who ultimately took his courageous steps, not to the doors of the palace, but to the Garden, and then the Hill. And he did it for me. (FOR YOU). I’ve wept almost every time we’ve practiced TRANSCENDENT because I too, like Atossa, deeply desire that my children will find a spouse who will love them transcendently. I’ve had my own battlegrounds, where I’ve fallen into the dark of panic, fear, and anxiety with my three children. All three of them have been snatched from the embrace of death and THINGS HAVE CHANGED forever … for the good, yes, but that “ride home” has taken my breath away too many times to count. And then … the overwhelming message of this show, is that peppered in the hardships of life are these profound rays of happiness. There is so much to look forward to (SOMETHING NEW AWAITS), and it is glorious! When we look for the SIMPLE THINGS, our gratitude overflows, and the dark and steepness of the climb are not so bad. Because it is our faith and choice to believe in a loving God and our Savior that puts this entire messy and wondrous experience of life into context (BEAUTIFUL FAITH). I am SO grateful to Kimberly for putting her talents out there in this way. I’m so grateful to have gotten to work with all of these amazing people: to see their genius, and gifts shining forth. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
It’s been a beautiful, uplifting experience to sing this incredible music and to share this with such talented people. Esther shows me that with the help of God and a lot of courage, we can face any challenge placed in our path and we can also stand up for truth and right, when we are called to do so.
I have been struggling to find peace in parenting my children. In striving to bring order back to my home after an undisciplined summer in a home with 4 teenagers, I found myself adopting too much of a Rehoboam style approach to governing my family. Then the words of “God Opens Doors” rang in my mind: “He can soften the hearts of kings.” Mine was the heart that needed softening. And so I prayed for that and it has come. I am not perfect in being the servant leader my home needs, but I am willing to become better and open to God’s whispers and the words of wiser men and women in the scriptures. This music has been inspirational in my time of need and it will be in yours too.
I am truly grateful to have been able to participate in this inspired production with such an amazing cast and crew. I have always felt drawn to Esther and her story, but being a part of this performance gave me the opportunity to feel it brought to life–to get a better sense of the reality of her experience along with the experience of those she lived among. The messages of trusting in God and His plan, along with becoming one who God can trust to have the courage to do hard things, are declared beautifully in this touching music. What a wonderful reminder that God is good and will be with the faithful through the times of change in this life, both those of blessing and of trial. It is true that, “with Him we can do mighty things”!
I felt the guidance and hand of the Lord in acceptance of this offering! We had a beautiful turnout of family and friends both performing and attending and we, as a family, experienced a healing balm and blessing for being a part of Esther 1.0. I can’t wait to hear the new music, touch base with new cherished friends and see the inspired work of the Lord in Esther 2.0! Thank you for this gift, Kimberly! You are the only one who could have done this production for so many reasons! My esteem for LaVar continues to grow through the years and the synergy of the Kofoed Family inspires all! Love and faith in action. 💜
