A STORY OF FAITH & COURAGE
For today’s world

In ancient Persia, a young Jewish woman is unexpectedly summoned to the royal palace. She must choose faith over fear to determine the fate of her people. Her name is Esther.

Set against the grandeur of the Persian court, this musical explores courage, identity, loyalty, and faith — and the quiet ways God works through ordinary people placed in extraordinary circumstances.

Join us for a staged concert performance of the new musical, ESTHER: An Instrument of Peace, featuring soloists, choir, and narration at the Nampa Civic Center on August 29, 2026 at 4:30PM.

1 Prologue (In Your Hands)

Prologue – In Your Hands

by Kylie Kofoed Bruneel | ESTHER: An Instrument of Peace

Queen Esther’s final prayer before risking her life to approach the King and plead for her people.

I hear their pleas
Their tears and their worry
I feel their dreams
Their faith growing thin

They need release
Calling You to save them
If I am called for such a time as this…

Holy Father, You have not abandoned me
In my darkest hour You are light
Holy Father, You have always rescued me
I will give to You my life
It is Yours, El Shaddai

In Your Hands, El Shaddai

2 Never Satisfied

Never Satisfied

by ENSEMBLE, Keith McCauley, Joseph Blomberg, Daniel Blomberg, Ethan Baker, Braden Johnson | ESTHER: An Instrument of Peace

King Ahasuerus, Haman, and the princes celebrate the power and glory of Persia at the royal feast—unaware of the devastating losses soon to come in Greece.

For six months we feasted
at the table of the King
for six months we’ve drank
from golden rivers and endless springs

Never satisfied
There’s always more to gain
to fill our pride
Never satisfied, never satisfied

We are the greatest
We’re the strongest
We are the mightiest of nations
There is no contest
We’ll stand the longest
It is our call of domination
Bringing order to all the world
Uniting one people under one King
One King

With silver rings, fine linens hang in
white and green and blue
Beds of gold and silver –
ground that’s paved black,
white, red, and blue

Marble pillars – purple, all signs of Intoxicating wealth
Never satisfied
Are we satisfied?

We are the greatest
We’re the strongest
We are the mightiest of nations
There is no contest
We’ll stand the longest
it is our call of domination
Bringing order to all the world
Uniting one people under one King
One King

Have our names carved in stone
and our legacy rise
Build a gateway to the throne
An empire to the skies
King
First to Greece then through the world
Restoring honor to our name

Power fully unfurled
King Xerxes rise to fame!

We are the greatest
We’re the strongest
we are the mightiest of nations
There is no contest
We’ll stand the longest
it is our call of domination
Bringing order to all the world
Uniting one people under one King
One King
One King
One King
One King

3 Beautiful Faith

Beautiful Faith

by Chase Weed, Jacey Fredericksen, Kylie Kofoed Bruneel, CHORUS | ESTHER: An Instrument of Peace

Mordecai teaches young Hadassah that true beauty comes from faith within, as she grows into the young woman she is becoming.

Beautiful, beautiful faith
like flowers rising in the desert sand
Beautiful, beautiful grace
like rivers flowing onto the dry land
Beautiful, beautiful love
The song of the sparrows above
Beautiful, beautiful God
we give Thee praise

With a faithful heart
we trust we’re in his care
With the grace He gives
we know He hears our prayers
With His Love, we feel him everywhere
Our beautiful, beautiful God

Beautiful, beautiful faith
the bread that’s rising for our Sabbath morn
Beautiful, beautiful grace
the sun that gives us light
and gives us warmth
Beautiful, beautiful love
A father for his little one
Beautiful, beautiful God
we give Thee praise

With a faithful heart
we trust we’re in his care
With the grace He gives
we know He hears our prayers
With His Love, we feel him everywhere
Our beautiful, beautiful God

Bridge: Mordecai & Esther
Faith, Love, Grace
Faith, Love, Grace
Faith, Love, Grace
Makes us Beautiful

Beautiful, beautiful faith
The first step when we don’t know the way
Beautiful, beautiful grace
letting tomorrow be a brand-new day
Beautiful, beautiful love
The hope in what each can become
Beautiful, beautiful God

Mordecai and Esther
Our beautiful, beautiful God…
We give Thee praise

4 This Is Greatness

This Is Greatness

by Joseph Blomberg | ESTHER: An Instrument of Peace

Haman reveals his hunger for power and glory, believing he can rise by manipulating the King from behind the throne.

This is greatness
This is power
This is meaning of life

Commanding armies
Leading the empire
Bringing order to chaos and strife

In all my days
I’ve fought to achieve
This high authority

The sweat, the grit
The veiled deceit
To shape and mold the King
While letting him think he leads

I have dreamed of glory
I know it’s in God’s plan
I won’t rise through royalty
I’ll rise through this man
And he won’t understand

This is greatness
This is power
This is meaning of life

Commanding armies
Leading the empire
Bringing order to chaos and strife

In all my days
I’ve fought to achieve
This high authority

The sweat, the grit
The veiled deceit
To shape and mold the King
While letting him think he leads

5 From the Inside Out

From the Inside Out

by Jacquelyn Kofoed, Olivia Grace, Annette Mackey, Annie Roberts, Heidi Erickson, Kimberly Kofoed | ESTHER: An Instrument of Peace

Hadassah’s friends and neighbors describe the faith, kindness, and compassion that make her truly beautiful from the inside out.

She sees the little things the most don’t see

She cares about the dreams of each family

She talks to God like he’s a friend

She holds her faith but lets others in

She is beautiful from the inside out

And when she’s around

It’s always a little brighter

When I’m feeling down

Her kindness lifts me higher

She’s a woman now

With her love as a crown

She is beautiful from the inside out

She is beautiful

From the inside out

6 Simple Life

Simple Life

by Kylie Kofoed Bruneel, Jaxon Bruneel, Brynlee Bruneel, Kyler Kofoed, Ella Bruneel, Chett Fredericksen, Arly Fredericksen, Dusty Fredericksen, Dawson Thibault, Ensemble | ESTHER: An Instrument of Peace

Hadassah and the neighborhood children celebrate the joy of a simple life, reminding all that true happiness comes not from possessions, but from love, faith, family, and trusting that God will provide.

We don’t need a palace
Glory or fame
His light’s within us
Our God knows our name
We don’t need the treasures
All the finest things
We have each other
That’s all we really need

Not things that come with a price
But all that the Father provides

It’s the simple life
All the sweetest things
It’s the hug that’s warm
and the gentle breeze
It’s the colors dancing
In the sun kissed sky
It’s the time we spend together you and I
Not gold or the things that we buy
It’s the simple life

All of God’s creations
The Great and the Small

Not things that come with a price
But all that the Father provides

It’s the simple life
All the sweetest things
It’s the hug that’s warm
and the gentle breeze
It’s the colors dancing
In the sun kissed sky
It’s the time we spend together
you and I
Not gold or the things that we buy
It’s the simple life

I know you wish things could be easier
But work’s made the man that I love
In all the ways I’ve needed strength from you
You have been more than enough
Filling my days with your love

It’s the simple life
All the sweetest things
It’s the hug that’s warm
and the gentle breeze

It’s the colors dancing
In the sun kissed sky
It’s the time we spend together you and I
Not gold or the things we buy
But all that the Father provides

It’s the simple life
The music we sing
The laughter in the halls
The kindness and mercy
The tears that we share
All are reminders
That we are in His care

7 Things Have Changed

Things Have Changed

by Keith McCauley | ESTHER: An Instrument of Peace

King Ahasuerus reflects on the devastating losses in Greece, returning home humbled, regretful, and changed by war.

I never dreamt that this ride home
Would take my breath away
But things have changed – I have changed.

God, I pray that I won’t come home
The same man as yesterday
I have changed – please let me change.

There are things I’ve seen that haunt me –
Precious lived that were lost
And the dreams of families waiting –
Oh it’s too big a cost
They’re not coming home

I never dreamt that this ride home
Would take my breath away
But things have changed – I have
changed.

8 Transcendent

Transcendent

by Kimberly Kofoed, Chase Weed, Kylie Bruneel, and Keith McCauley

Queen Atossa encourages her struggling son  King Ahasuerus, that he can be loved, while Mordecai prays Hadassah will have the loves he feels she deserves—true love, faithful, abiding love. Both parents want this for their children and both Hadassh and the King hope to find this kind of Transcedent love one day.

Every mother wants her child to be loved
Every parent wants their child to find
someone
Who can see beyond the walls it’s taken
years to build
To the good man inside
The precious child I held

Every imperfection, every single flaw
Doesn’t tell the story of who you really are
if they could see beyond the obstacles
you’ve overcome
To your inner strength
all that you’ve become

It would be transcendent
To see you looked upon this way
It would be astounding
To see that joy come on your face
It would be amazing
The most incredible of gifts
To see you loved
See you loved like this

Every father wants his child to be loved

Every child wants you to have someone

Who can see beyond the outside to the Inner grace

To the soul inside
So full of light and faith

It would be transcendent
To see you looked upon this way
It would be astounding
To see that joy come on your face
It would be amazing
The most incredible of gifts
To see you loved
See you loved like this

I don’t deserve it

Since when did anyone deserve love

I’m not worth it

Love doesn’t qualify who it loves

I want to believe

Just hold on and you’ll see

It would be transcendent,
To be looked upon this way
It would be astounding
To see that joy come on their face
It would be amazing
The most incredible of gifts
To be loved
To be loved like this

To see you loved
See you LOVED LIKE THIS

9 In Your Hands, El Shaddai

Hadassah is taken to the palace, leaving Mordecai and her home behind as she offers a prayer of trust in God’s purpose for her life.

I feel in me
Divine sense of purpose
I feel in me
A longing for home
I feel in me
a love that is certain
in my blood, deep in my bones

Holy Father, You have not abandoned me
In my darkest hour You are light
Holy Father, You have always rescued me
I will give to You my life
It is Yours El Shaddai

I feel in Thee
a place of belonging
I feel in Thee
A sure guiding hand
I feel in Thee
A place for the wandering
In your arms, a promised land

Holy Father, You have not abandoned me
In my darkest hour You are light
Holy Father, You have always rescued me
I will give to You my life
It is Yours El Shaddai

Who am I
To commune with Thee above
Adonai
Who am I to feel Your love
My life is Yours God on High
In Your Hands, El Shaddai

Holy Father, You have not abandoned me
In my darkest hour You are light
Holy Father, You have always rescued me
I will give to You my life
It is Yours
El Shaddai

In your Hands, El Shaddai

10 Foolish Man

Foolish Man

by Joseph Blomberg, Chase Weed, Keith McCauley

Three men. Three paths. Haman envies the King’s power. King Ahauseurus grapples with doubt. Mordecai refuses to reverence Haman.

Foolish man, who do you think you are?
So undeserving your throne should be barred
Foolish man, if it were up to me
people would cower and the wars would
Succeed
Foolish man…power’s in your hands
Foolish man…what’s your plan
Foolish man

Foolish man, so great in your own eyes

Drunk on your glory and fame, so unwise

Foolish man, you plot and you deceive
You will be hung by this web that you weave
Foolish man…power’s in your hands
Foolish man…what’s your plan
Foolish man

Foolish man, why are you so naïve
Wanting your counselors
to see what you see
Foolish man, you want to live in peace
Could there be someone
who wants what you need?
Foolish man…power’s in your hands
Foolish man…what’s your plan
Foolish man

You won’t make a fool of me
This is destiny
Bowing to my demands

Adoni strengthen me
Give me eyes to see
Help me know where to stand

I hear cries from the dust
Please remember us
Bring peace to this land!
Don’t be a foolish man!
4 bar Riff

Foolish man, who do you think you are?
So undeserving you’ve gotten this far
Foolish man are you too blind to see
This is a kingdom who needs…
A TRUE KING

by Kylie Kofoed Bruneel, Jacquelyn Kofoed, Colette Kofoed Waite, Heidi Kofoed Erickson, Tara Kofoed Thibault, Lisette Kofoed, Shalese Kofoed Fredericksen & CHORUS | ESTHER: An Instrument of Peace

The maidens summoned to the palace marvel at its beauty and grandeur, wondering what this new life may hold.

Something new awaits
and I can feel the thrill hope arising

Something new awaits
And I feel energy intensifying

This is a new life
This is a new place
Like nothing I’ve ever known

Something new awaits
And I can feel the weight of expectation

Something new awaits
But aren’t you filled with such exhilaration

This is a new life
This is a new place
Like nothing I’ve ever known

For one year a chance to shine
A chance to refine
A chance to dream of being queen

One year a time to try
This royalty life
Before I meet the King
And he meets me

Something new awaits
And I can feel a new life unfolding
Something new awaits
Just look at all the jewels and silks he’s holding

This is a new life
This is a new place
Like nothing I’ve ever known

For one year a chance to shine
A chance to refine
A chance to dream of being queen

One year a time to try
This royalty life
Before I meet the King
And he meets me

Something new awaits
Something new awaits

This is a new life
Like nothing I’ve ever known

12 What is Love

What Is Love

by Tara Kofoed Thibault, Heidi Kofoed Erickson, Jacquelyn Kofoed, Colette Kofoed Waite, Kylie Kofoed Bruneel, Lisette Kofoed, Shalese Kofoed Fredericksen | ESTHER: An Instrument of Peace

Esther and the other maidens wonder what their futures will hold and what love truly means, as Esther responds with empathy, wisdom, and compassion.

What is love
Is it just the imagination
Is it real, will it ever be mine

Is it a feeling, or a choice
Or just exaggeration
Never really something I’ll ever find

What is love?
Is it more, than youth and beauty
Can it grow sweeter with time?
What is love
what is love,
will it ever be mine?

I know love
And it’s real
And it fills the night sky
with Ḥesda, the expanse of God’s love

Reḥmā and Ḥavīv
It’s a joyful offering
Of our heart, of our body, our soul

Rahame and Ḥubbā our sacred knowing
As we give our whole self and trust
This is love
God is love
It is here within us

Maybe someday
Two people will meet
in a courtyard where soft music plays
They’ll talk and they’ll dream
Of all that could be
and the future will be theirs to claim
This is love

Where there’s love,
there is life
It’s the bridge between souls
Love endures
through the sunshine rain

I need hope
I need peace
That real love is not rare
That there is someone waiting for me

We were robbed
Of real love
Will we wait for all time?
Oh God deliver me!

Let us trust, in the God
Who created all things
That one day the love that we seek
Will be ours
We will know
What is love

13 The Rest of Our Lives

After four years of war and devastating losses in Greece, a humbled King Ahasuerus is ready to choose a new queen. After a year of preparation, he meets Esther formally for the first time in the royal garden—and begins to discover the possibility of the transcendent love they have both longed for.

All this
And I’m told I need more
Where are You God of peace
All that I know is war

I can’t remember a time
Voices weren’t in my head
Spinning these lies
Of riches and conquest
Is there more than this
Is there more than this

Now you
Come on the stage of dreams
With a warmth I’ve not felt
With a light I’ve not seen

Your beauty and kindness
I never have known
Worth more than the riches
Than this kingdom holds

Is there more than this
Is there more than this

Will you be my queen
Share your life with me
Forgive my past
Take all I have
and make it yours

Will you be the one
I can truly love
Trust it will last
Take all I am
and make me yours
For the rest of my life

All this
I’ve never wanted more
Only a simple life
Only a love that’s pure

You hold
in your hand
All the power and gold
But is there inside of you
Truth yet untold

Oh, is there more than this
Is there more than this

I will be your queen
Share your life with me
Honor my past
Take all I have
and make it yours

Will you be the one
I can truly love
Trust it will last
Take all I have
and make me yours
For the rest of my life

I’d give away all that I have
for something true
I’d give away all that I am
To feel the way I do
For the rest of my life

All this (All this)
I’ve never wanted more
(I’ve never wanted more)

Only a life with you

only a love that’s sure

We hold in our hands,
power and gold
but this be something,
a story untold
There is more than this
There is more than this

Will you be my queen
(I will be your queen)
Spend your life with me
Make our love last
take all I have and make me yours
For the rest of my life

The rest of our lives

15 Don’t Look Away

Don’t Look Away

by Emily Cherie Hansen, Joseph Blomberg and Company

Haman, Zeresh, and their ten sons revel in their growing power and influence as pride and hatred fuel their ruthless plan to destroy Mordecai and rid the kingdom of the Jews.

Don’t try to seduce me
With your malevolent plan
Your heart is as vengeful
And cold as mine
We are a perfect match

You tongue’s like a serpent
Deceiving and sly
The King is your puppet
I’m honored to be dancing by your side

We are entwined with these burning desires
We’re are consumed by the same fervid hate
Is it our destiny we found each other
And not an empire too late

Speak to me
Of our rising to glory
Lie to me
In your sinister way
Laugh with me
While the weak ones are falling
And don’t look away

The hour is approaching
Our destiny sealed
Your worthy obsession
For power will no longer be concealed

We are entwined with these burning desires
We’re are consumed by the same fervid hate
Is it our destiny we found each other
And not an empire to late

Speak to me
Of our rising to glory
Lie to me
In your sinister way
Laugh with me
While the weak ones are falling
And don’t look away

We have the right to shape this land
Their filthy lives are in our hands
It is our legacy to rise
And bury deep their lawless cries

The hour is approaching
Our destiny sealed
Your worthy obsession
For power will no longer need concealed

We are entwined with these burning desires
We’re are consumed by the same fervid hate
Is it our destiny we found each other
And not an empire to late

Speak to me
Of our rising to glory
Lie to me
In your sinister way
Laugh with me
While the weak one’s are falling
And don’t look away

Why would I ever look away

16 Can One Girl

Can One Girl

by Shalese Fredericksen, Chase Weed and Company

Mordecai grieves at Naomi’s grave over the decree against the Jews. She appears to comfort him, restoring hope and inspiring him to believe that one faithful girl may yet make a difference.

Why do men seek to control
A precious life alive and breathing
Why, does one discard a soul?
When does a murder
leave more than grieving?

Oh where do the children go
In a world that’s grown so cold
Oh how do they feel Gods love?
When they see hate
and there’s no trust

Can one girl
take one courageous step
And change the course of fate
Can one man
inspire the hearts of all
To turn to God in faith
I believe….
I believe….
Adonai is our true King
and one day we will live in peace

How can one change what he knows?
Can he turn pride into conviction?
Naomi
Can the truth be finally told?
Can knowing hearts
end this affliction?

Oh where do the children go
In a world that’s grown so cold
Oh How do they feel Gods love?
When they see hate
and there’s no trust

Can one girl
Adonai shomea et tefilatech
(The Lord hears your prayer)

Take one courageous step
Hu hechin et haderech
(He has prepared the way)And change the course of fate

Can one man
Bitchi
(Trust)

Inspire the hearts of all
Hu tamid sham lehadrich
(He is always there to guide)

To turn to God in faith

Tse’adayich be’emuna beterem olam
(Your steps in faith were known before the world began)

I believe…
Nir’eh, Hu yada
(We will see—He knew)

I believe…
Shehazman yagia
(That the time will come)

Adonai is our true King
Betochnito mele’at ha’ahava
(His plan is filled with love)

And one day we will live in peace
Hu hechin et ha’achat
(He has prepared the one)

Esther chooses to approach the King unsummoned, risking her life for her people as their prayers and faith go with her every step.

I never dreamt seeing you here
Would take my breath away
But things have changed
You have changed

I have prayed that you would find strength
To be the man I see today
You have changed
Things have changed

There are things I’ve done that haunt me
Countless lives nearly lost

But God gave us the courage
He knew the struggle and the cost
To bring us home…

It’s a dream seeing you here
And it takes my breath away
Things have changed
We have changed

God Opens Doors

by Chase Weed, Kylie Bruneel, Keith McCauley and Company

In the finale, Esther, the King, Mordecai, and the people look back on all God has done—celebrating that faith opens the way for deliverance, courage, and peace.

You were never forgotten
Held in His hand
Making beauty for ashes
Bringing you to our land

In our darkest hour
He provides a way
The path is prepared for us
If we have faith
When we have faith

God opens doors
He parts the waters
He slays the giants
And calms the beasts
He builds an ark
For our deliverance
And He can soften the hearts of kings
With Him we can do mighty things
God opens doors

You have blessed this kingdom
Opened my eyes
Making beauty for ashes
Turning darkness to light

All that I treasure, all I hold so dear
Came from trusting God will provide
When we choose faith over fear
I’ll choose faith over fear

God opens doors
He parts the waters
He slays the giants
And calms the beasts
He builds an ark
For our deliverance
And He can soften the hearts of kings
With Him we can do mighty things
God opens doors

It may not feel enough to pray
But God can move mountains
With just a little faith

God opens doors
He parts the waters
He slays the giants
And calms the beasts
He builds an ark
(He builds an ark)

(to deliver us)
And He can soften the hearts of kings
(He is our King)
With Him we can do mighty things

God opens doors
He parts the waters
He slays the giants
He calms the beasts
He builds an ark
For our deliverance
And He can soften the hearts of kings

With Him we can do mighty things
God opens doors
God opens doors

Words, Music and Book by

KIMBERLY KOFOED

“At the heart of my musical ministry is the desire to help us grow closer to God through songs of hope, courage, and faith using the stories that help us understand that our God is a God of miracles, and that He loves us.”

Kimberly Kofoed is a songwriter, mother, and grandmother based in Eagle, Idaho, whose music ministry grew out of a lifetime of melodies written quietly in the margins of family life. She and her husband, LaVar, have been married for 35 years and are parents to 11 children and grandparents to 22 grandchildren. She wrote her first song at age seven—a Christmas song her mother had her sing for friends, and what began as college music studies eventually wove itself through decades of raising a large, “big, crazy, messy, loving family.”

For years she wrote songs she describes as melodies God placed on her heart to comfort, heal, and teach, and only about three years ago—with encouragement from her family—did she begin professionally producing music under Kofoed Family Music.

At the heart of her work is a simple conviction: that the struggle is real, but so is the hope, and that music has the power to heal and bring hope. Her songs aim to bring light, strengthen faith in Christ, build connections, and infuse hope into everyday life through original, contemporary Christian and family-strengthening music—”not just for Sunday, but for everyday.”

Writing through real seasons of grief, questions, and change—including caring for her mother through dementia—Kimberly shares music rooted in testimony and the belief that we share so many of the same highs and lows, and together can lift and strengthen one another through this journey of life.

PRODUCTION TEAM

Behind ESTHER: An Instrument of Peace, producer-arranger Daniel Blomberg and recording engineer Dave Zimmerman bring the show’s 17 original songs to life—shaping arrangements, consulting on the creative direction, and capturing every performance with studio precision. Drawing on international experience, Billboard-charting credits, and decades of work with hundreds of artists, they give the music the professional polish and emotional depth this story deserves.

Daniel Blomberg

Daniel is a music producer, arranger, songwriter, keyboardist and vocalist from Sweden who found both the love of his life and many of his favorite music colleagues while at college in the U.S. In addition to his own producing, arranging and performing, he has taught songwriting and other music and business courses at the American University of Madaba in Jordan.

Dave Zimmerman

Dave is the owner and head audio engineer of Noisebox Studios, where he has amassed an impressive and loyal clientele since 2006. Dave has several Billboard No. 1’s to his name through his work with GENTRI, and he has also worked with artists like Lexi Walker, Madilyn Paige, and many others.

How do you feel connected to this story and project … This story is from a time and culture that most of us can’t really even comprehend. The circumstances Esther finds herself in are so foreign. And yet, the principles of courage, faith, and self-sacrifice…

Working out the harmonies and sing-a-longs in the studio

I’ve taken a few video clips here and there as I’ve been going through this process. It’s been such a rewarding process to see these songs take life and take shape as they are shepherded through the process of composition, refinement, arranging, instrumentation, vocal…

A recording session on the other side of the country

Kimberly asked me to read for King Ahasuerus back in March 2026. I desperately wanted to say yes, but I was hesitant—my voice had been on the fritz for about nine months. After a long talk, we decided to move forward and see what would happen. I was uncomfortable with…
